Achievement Gap

Achievement gap refers to the observed, persistent disparity of educational measures between the performance of groups of students, especially groups defined by socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity and gender. Here at the Academy we strive and are making progress towards closing that gap or addressing that discrepancy.

In our comparative analysis, we are significantly above the Hempstead school district (a low performing school district according to NYS test scores) and approaching the successes of the Garden City School district (a high performing school district according to NYS test scores).

The illustrations below graphically display the academic achievement of students in these school districts in the past 2 years.

The graphs above clearly illustrate that the standard of achievement in the Academy surpasses that of the Hempstead school district and is approaching that of Garden City, the higher performing school district in our area.

Our style of teaching and academic achievement is bringing a higher level of success to marginalize minority and economically disadvantaged students.
